BrainBloom IQ: academic quality and workforce intelligence
A proposed platform to help institutions plan academic staffing and assessment capacity, and spot quality risks earlier. We are inviting a small number of institutions to help shape it.
The vision
Decisions about who teaches a module, how marking will be resourced and where quality may be at risk are often made under time pressure, using information held in separate spreadsheets, inboxes and systems.
BrainBloom IQ is intended to bring that information together. It draws on what we have learned from providing staffing and assessment support, and is being designed to support the judgement of academic and quality teams, not replace it.
Planned capabilities
The platform is being designed around five connected areas. Features and scope may change as development and piloting progress.
Intelligent academic staff matching
Suggest suitable academics for a module by comparing its requirements with verified staff expertise and availability.
Assessment workload optimisation
Show where marking and moderation load will peak across a term so capacity can be planned before deadlines arrive.
Academic quality risk identification
Highlight patterns that may need attention, such as modules relying heavily on short-notice cover or tight marking turnarounds.
Lecturer competency mapping
Build a clear picture of the subjects, levels and assessment types each academic is qualified and experienced to support.
Institutional decision-support analytics
Bring staffing, assessment and quality information into reports that help programme and quality teams make informed decisions.
Intended benefits
- Earlier sight of staffing and marking pressure points
- Better-evidenced decisions about where to use external support
- Less time spent finding the right person for a module
- Clearer records to support internal quality processes
Pilot opportunities
Pilot partners would be invited to:
- Help shape priorities by sharing the planning challenges your teams face
- Test early versions with anonymised or sample data
- Give structured feedback on usefulness, accuracy and ease of use
- Agree scope, data protection arrangements and timescales in writing before anything starts
Current status
BrainBloom IQ is at concept and development stage. It is not yet available for commercial use and has not been independently validated or approved by any regulatory body. Registering interest places you under no obligation.
